Hexham-based care home recognises key staff at Long Service Awards

A Leading Independent Care Provider has recognised four of its Hexham-based care staff’s hard work and commitment.

John Shiells, Home Manager, at Elm Bank in Hexham, has worked at the care home for 10 years, Cheryl Allan, Senior Care Assistant for 18 years, Kathryn Gaughan, Senior Care Assistant for 10 years, Peter Gaughan, Care Assistant for 10 years and Adam Metcalf, Kitchen Assistant for 10 Years, have all been presented with long service awards by Amanda Cunningham, Operations Director for Marton Care Homes

Marton Care Homes, a leading independent care home provider, operate fourteen care homes across the North of England, with many homes in the North East including Elm Bank in Hexham.

Marton Care Homes recognises employees long service at 10 and 20 years.

Amanda Cunningham said: “It’s such a milestone for employees to reach 10, years’ service and more;  that they deserve a big thank you.”

John Shiells, Home Manager, said, “It’s lovely to be recognised for long service, particularly after such a difficult year for social care. We have more than 37 staff members at Elm Bank, and some have been with us for 15 years or more. We have a very dedicated and passionate team.”

John started his career at Brampton Court as a Bank care Assistant and progressed to Home Manager in 2011

Kathryn Gaughan, Senior Care Assistant, said: “I enjoy the caring side of my job and making a difference to the residents and making them happy.

“For me, it’s about making a difference for every resident.

“Every day is different, and I work with some lovely people.”

Meanwhile, Peter Gaughan works as a Care Assistant, said, “ I really enjoy my work it’s a lovely home”

Adam Metcalf, Kitchen Assistant, added: “I find what I do very rewarding, and I also think it’s essential to give people the best possible life we can.

Cheryl Allan joined Elm Bank as a Care assistant in 2003.

“It makes me feel good, knowing my work helps to make the resident happy.”
