Tonbridge care home residents receive gift from local NatWest

In such difficult and uncertain times, a random act of kindness goes a long way. For residents at Barnes Lodge Care home in Tudeley Lane, Tonbridge, they received a lovely gift from NatWest Bank in Tunbridge Wells.

Jo Wallwork, Community Banker at the Tunbridge Wells NatWest Bank was kind enough to nominate Barnes Lodge as her chosen care home, which meant the residents would be sent a free Samsung Tablet. Devices such as this are crucial for keeping in touch with loved ones, particularly when the country is currently going through its third lockdown, due to the pandemic.

Jo Wallwork, Community Banker at NatWest Bank said: “We recognise the particular challenges faced by care home residents during this time and have launched a pilot scheme to gift tablets to care homes across the UK. I was asked to nominate a care home deserving of the tablet and Barnes Lodge came to mind straight away.

“With current restrictions meaning reduced visitors, the devices can be used to help maintain contact through Zoom calls to families, accessing community groups and church services, exercise apps and general internet access.”

Nicky Pett, General Manager at Barnes Lodge added: “It was such a lovely and most welcome surprise to receive this tablet from Jo at NatWest. It is so difficult for residents and families to be apart, especially for this long, anything that helps with communication and face to face interaction is just brilliant, we are very grateful to Jo.”
